“Wolffia. A Story of a Certain Freedom” is a draft of a graphic novel about Hannah Arendt’s life – it attempts to portray a life of an outstanding individual in times when the significance of historic events is mixed with their cruel influence on people’s lives. It’s an attempt to portray Hannah Arendt as a flesh and blood real person; it’s a fascinating meeting with a woman who despite war, persecution and exile, lived with her head raised up high, finding the meaning of life in creative thinking.
The graphic novel is structured as a record of thoughts, memories, and free associations, violating historical chronology; it’s based on the authentic properties of human memory, which is random, incomplete, intertwined, and closely related to emotions or other stimuli, which activate it. Why “Wolffia”? Wolffia is a type of rootless floating plant. And this is exactly how Hannah Arendt was – free, without roots anywhere.
Your background is a trap.
Angel, angel. He says he’s an angel of history,
but the scoundrel plays instead of looking after history!
